As you may recall, we blogged about how excited we are that H&M – one of the biggest retailers in the world – is finally hitting our shores. Well, that time has finally arrived with Cape Town store opening its doors next Saturday (17 October) and Sandton City scheduled to open on the 7th of November.

Their marketing team have been clever enough to give us a teaser of what to expect (with prices!) by allowing the public access to their South African website. Not only do the prices seem in line with what one would pay overseas (reasonable), but it appears we will be receiving the exact same gorgeous, on-trend merchandise that is available on all other continents.

With Summer on our doorstep (Jozi has been blessed with a ridiculous heat wave this past week), a whole bunch of new trends and styles are starting to be seen across all the local and international retailers. We decided to peek at what H&M will be offering up in the coming weeks; they seem to track the Spring/Summer 2015 trends perfectly!

As with Autumn/Winter season this year, we settled on four of our favourite trends for the season showcasing the current offerings expected from H&M (and giving you a taste of what to expect 🙂 ):

Nautical Stripes

One of the hottest Spring/Summer 2015 trends are stripes. Vertical or horizontal, monochromatic or colorful, from head-to-toe or separates, the striped pattern is an evergreen that changes through the years but will never fall out of fashion.

Khaki

Since it first hit the runway over 40 years ago, khaki has become a fashion classic, returning this season with a bang. Appearing in varying styles for a number of fashion houses, we saw suede khaki pieces at  Chanel’s feminist protest, while Marc Jacobs offered sexy, military silhouettes and Ralph Lauren opted for Out of Africa, Safari-style glamour.

Denim

This season denim makes its return to the runway, reinvented in faded blues and a range of textured effects, to take on a persona that shifts between good-girl bourgeois and sex siren on her day off.

White on White

Summer whites reflects a  mix of influences, from Victoriana to virginal cornfirmation dressing. What really counts is the craftsmanship: fine lace, broderie anglaise and delicate cutwork elevate these designs from pretty to infinitely precious.
