The PANTONE® name has established itself as the standard language for color communication across the globe.

This innovative company has created a unique system for identifying, matching and communicating colours to often solve problems which are associated with colour matching between a diverse range of colour-critical industries – it’s crazy how many times I have meant something to be one colour but then it comes out looking completely different! #fail

Each year this amazing company strategizes and decides on a “colour of the year”. It provides for such a great forecasting and trending tool, and this year their chosen colour is the seductive Marsala.

Our friends at The Salt Box posted a wonderful write-up on the use of Marsala as a decorative colour. Due to the versatility of the hue, we thought we would showcase how perfect it was in the world of fashion and beauty.

‘Flattering against many skin tones, sultry and subtle Marsala is a great go-to color for beauty, providing enormous highlight for the cheek, and a captivating pop of color for nails, shadows lips and hair’

We have to agree with Pantone’s view above – it’s a warm, earthy, grounded and seductive shade that transcends seasons and styles. It also pairs beautifully with various other colours, so it becomes quite simple when incorporating it into your wardrobe or beauty regime – for more detailed information on the colour and colour pairing, click here.

We expect to see a few hints of Marsala across most retailers for the upcoming autumn/winter season – it’s depth of colour will certainly go a long  way in pepping up the dull black and grey we would generally see during winter. If you are already looking for ways to stay on trend, here are some everyday items that will enable you to incorporate this bold colour into your everyday look:

1. Cinnamon Cross Over Top – Spree

2. Catrice Velvet Matt Eyeshadow – Spree

3. Tweet Wide Brim Hat – Zando

4. Essie Nail Varnish ‘Carry on’

5. MAC Lipstick ‘Sin’

6. Classic Shopper – Woolworths

7. Sqaure Calvin Klein Sunglasses – Spree

How do you feel about this shade for 2015? We absolutely adore it, but would love to know your thoughts in the comment section of the post.

Thank goodness the hideous fuschsia shade that had everyone rounding off to some other purple is out. Maroon I can definitely go for.
