It wasn’t until very recently that I found out about the amazing Make-Up Designory (MUD) brand and concept, although Sam assures me she once told me about her make-up brushes from MUD…

MUD was founded in California 16 years ago with a vision to bring quality education and products to the make-up artist community. The brand prides itself on offering world class training facilities as well as high performance products to the make-up industry.

About two weeks ago, we were lucky enough to get invited to the opening of the first MUD studio in South Africa.

The new retail space, in the Morning Glen Mall in Sandton, is both a sleek make-up boutique, and educational space.  MUD certified make-up artists are on hand to provide advice and extensive knowledge of all their products from the moment you walk through the door; and made me feel extremely welcome on the day!

Although my eyes were drawn to the beautiful and creative displays of products and tools (especially the very high-tech looking air-brush tool which I may have to try someday) the pull factor is definitely the knowledge and expertise of the team and the brand. With precision tools, how-to-guides and insider tips, MUD takes an educational approach to make-up and I believe this is what differentiates them to any other boutique make-up store in the country.

Paul Thompson – Director of Education at MUD

Brenda Botha – Owner of MUD SA and the MUD Studio; Laurelle Eveleigh – Part Owner of the MUD Studio and Head of Marketing

MUD was kind enough to give us a stunning goodie bag containing workshop vouchers as well as a gorgeous bronze single eye-shadow compact. Judging from the quality of this product – its silk-like texture and long-lasting wearability – I can’t wait to go back and a few items to my make-up bag!

Whether you are simply looking for quality make-up or want to go even further and pursue studies in the field, it really seems like MUD offers something for everyone. For more info on the wide variety of different courses and workshops, click here

A big thank you to the entire MUD South Africa team for putting together such a stunning launch. I would highly recommend a visit to the studio, and we would love to know what you think of it.

We will keep you posted on our make-up workshop we hope to do in the next few weeks
