We LOVE LOVE LOVE finding new places around Jozi (or anywhere for that matter) and that is why our Spruce date-night a few nights a go was so fantastic!

We happened to be at Sandton City, and because it was such a chilly evening, we sought out something cosy and warm. Tasha’s (our usual go-to spot) was just not giving us that feeling so we opted for something new: Cilantros Restaurant on the Nelson Mandela Square.

We had actually noticed this newbie a while back and thought that we had to give it a try because it just looks SO INVITING.

It definitely ticked the box for our ‘warm and cosy’ requirement and turns out it ticks a whole lot of other boxes too! For one, the décor is absolutely stunning! From the gorgeous black framed window panes down to the crockery that the meal is served in – it really is a décor dream.

Secondly, the service was amazing. One of Sam’s rings accidentally fell off at the venue, and the waiters went out of their way the entire evening to help our search; moving us to another table so that they could spend their time looking while we enjoyed our meal. After an hour or so – EUREKA! We were genuinely amazed at the level of service, and on that alone, we would highly recommend the place.

Lastly but certainly not least, the food. We ordered fresh mozzarella balls with tomatoes and parmesan croutons, topped with a basil pesto to start – delicious. For mains, Sam ordered the chicken burger served with hand cut chips and I went for the lemon and herb chicken kebab served with flat bread, hummus and hand cut chips. Both were super tasty, and felt like just the right portion size for us hungry girls!

All in all, we thought it was a win and would recommend a visit.

Cilantros is definitely a welcomed addition to the other newbie spots on the nelson Mandela piazza.

You can get hold of Cilantros on 011 784 2510. They are open daily from 12 noon to 11pm.

Have a wonderful weekend!
