So I really wanted to get this post out last week, but it just didn’t seem to happen 🙁

I hope though, that it will still inspire all you Jozi inhabitants to think outside the box and try something different this Thursday morning.

What I’m talking about involves three things: sunrise, wireless headphones and an open mind! This is the formula of the Secret Sunrise series and it is amazing!

I’m not going to get into too much detail because I think the photos will do far more justice, but in a nutshell: I was very intrigued by the ‘Silent Disco’ events that I kept seeing on Facebook and so I dragged my friend Ricci-Leigh to Innesfree Park on the 4th February not knowing what to expect.

We were each handed earphones, and then joined the other 450 people (most dressed up as their favorite superhero) that congregated underneath the beautiful grey skies. We then spent an hour moving, dancing and stretching to some awesome superhero themed music and it was an amazing way to start off the day.

I’m not going to lie – at first, I felt really awkward and uncomfortable, but once I saw how many people let their hair down and just engaged themselves in the moment, I really began to have a ball!

It is something that I would highly recommend you experience, even if it is only once – although I doubt you will leave not wanting to return.

If you are interested, make sure to like the Secret Sunrise JHB Facebook page where you will be notified of any new events or info. Capetonians – you too can enjoy these fantastic sessions; Secret Sunrise Cape Town.

Tickets are R100-R125 per person and are available on Quicket. The theme and venue are kept secret until the very last few days leading up to the event so it is always a surprise!

If anyone has been, or is planning to go this Thursday, we would love to know your thoughts on this concept 🙂
