Say what?!?

Yes, dear Spruce reader, I am embarking on a “no-shop challenge” until April. Over the past year, I have come to the realization that I probably own way too many clothes. Don’t get me wrong here: I still think there are probably about 6 things I could think of off the top of my head that I would luuuurve in my cupboard but I’ve actually reached maximum capacity in cupboard space in my house!

So here are the rules:

• No clothes shopping until April.  Should you catch me in a mall on the weekend greedily clutching a Witchery or H&M bag; please report me!
• No shoe purchases until April. No heels, no pumps, no “these were on sale shoes”.
• No accessories purchases. Gulp!

Apart from the wardrobe space conundrum I find myself in, I also think it will be beneficial for me to re-evaluate what really lurks in my wardrobe before buying more. I am already three-and-half weeks into my ‘cleanse’ and already am considering different options of what to wear to the office; it will certainly be interesting to see how I am feeling about this pledge come March.

The largest part of why I am killing the shopping for the next few months is really to help me save some moola as the building of our new house commences this month (eeeeeek!). Moreover, in wanting to live a simpler life it surely means de-cluttering… and getting rid of what I don’t need in my wardrobe. So here goes – three full months of no shopping; let’s see if I can make it!

P.s I tried to convince Ilaria to join me on this challenge – she intelligently declined – which made me think: Am I mad??? So tell us what you would do, by voting in the poll below:

Well done Sam, we should all be doing this de-cluttering exercise – that goes for other items !

Thanks Terry 🙂 Hopefully the lack of shopping will prompt me to go through a proper de-clutter these next few months 🙂

I love this… I think I’m going to adopt the same thing, with an exception for my wedding – I still have to buy a few things for my wedding! LOL!
My last blog post is all about simplicity… There’s definitely something in the energy of the world about decluttering and simplifying our lives! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much Bailey! We couldn’t agree more with your sentiments in your blog post (we loved it) – the world seems to have lost its mind in the past few months and an approach to a simpler life seems in order! BUT you definitely have an excuse to buy a few things in the next few weeks 😉 good luck with the last of the planning – hope it is not too stressful! xxx
