HAPPY 2017 dear Spruce readers – we hope you are as re-charged, refreshed and rearing to go as we are for the year ahead!
It seems EVERYBODY has returned to work this week and what better way to soothe the Monday (and post-holiday) blues than a bit of fashion fun from the red carpet of the Golden Globes!
So what was on the hot list for this year?
Gold-Plated Girls
This year was dominated by heavily sequenced dresses on the red carpet: Ruth Negga in Louis Vuitton leading the pack of high-shine ladies that also included Priyanka Chopra, Sofia Vergara and Naomie Harris. Our selection of our favourite metallic looks are:
Sunshine State
A re-appearance of sunny yellows lit up the awards ceremony last night. Reese Witherspoon was stunning in a strapless pale-lemon gown, while Viola Davis went for a punchier canary coloured one-shoulder Micheal Kors gown. Sam loved the Jackie O inspired Prada look donned by Natalie Portman, while Ilaria was not quite sold on the look – what do you think?
Plunging Necklines
Jessica Biel, Mandy Moore and Kristen Bell were all bringing sexy back with their risqué necklines. Is this the return of the lower necklines on the red carpet?
Best Dressed
While some of the above dresses and Evan Rachel Wood’s Marlene Dietrich-inspired tux were some of our favourite looks, we were unanimous in our selection of our best dressed: Drew Barrymore. While it seems she did not make any of the official best dressed lists, we loved, loved, loved her Monique Lhuillier silver and white creation. Paired with sharp dark nails, and fistful of diamond rings and flowing locks she epitomised whimsical chic.
Is your favourite on our list above, or did we miss someone spectacular? We always love to know what you think so leave us a comment and let us know!
P.S – if you missed it – our top picks from 2015 and 2016!
