Daniel Wellington – the watch brand built almost entirely off of social media – has to be THE watch brand of the moment. Everybody is either wearing one or lusting after one… us included! So when we were contacted by the DW peeps a few months back, it took us no time to happily accept one EACH!
We browsed the online store and found a watch that complimented our individual styles perfectly. As much as we love the same things (Brenton-stripe tops, black classics, nude heels) we can be polar-opposites in the way we style the final outcome; you just need to look back at any of our style-off challenges as an example!
We recently spent an afternoon with the lovely Robyn Marshall – of Miss Marshall photography – drinking coffee, chatting, laughing and catching up (as we usually do) while Robyn snapped away some pics of our beautiful new timepieces. Our coffee ended up with us strolling the energetic streets of Braamfontein – complete with its brightly-painted shop walls; taking in the revived inner-city ambience of the area.

I have been on the look-out for a minimalistic, semi-masculine, statement style watch for ages – particularly one that compliments my style (which can be difficult to put down to one genre – I love bold prints and textures while at the same time often veering towards the classics). The “St Mawes” model I ended up choosing seems to speak to my style perfectly; it is both modern and timeless, both masculine and feminine (I love the masculine edge of the large 36mm face coupled with the feminine feel of the soft, tan strap and rose gold case) and suits the more casual day-to-day style of my wardrobe. This version from the Classic range has become my go-to daily companion!

My style philosophy has always been about the classics that stand the test of time. I chose the “Dapper York” watch and find it is the perfect watch for work and week days! The slightly smaller face (34mm vs the larger 36mm) makes is somewhat more understated, while the gold accent, Roman numerals and blue hands give it a high-end finish that I love. The Dapper York comes with a deep-brown crocodile which is probably my favourite thing about the watch; timeless with a touch of adventure.
As with all Daniel Wellington watches, the watch straps are completely interchangeable meaning we could quite easily change over to the NATO-inspired nylon strap at any point! Despite owning a few watches each, we have both found ourselves reaching for our DWs almost every day – they are chic, versatile and the perfect compliment to both of our wardrobes.
If you have been thinking about buying yourself – or someone special – a Daniel Wellington we have some seriously good news for you! Use the code spruceDW when ordering online and receive 15% off your purchase price – this code is valid until 30 November 2016.
