Sometimes, in the frantic rush of life, we forget to take the time to sit back and thank the people in our lives for being in our lives, like our mothers. With Mother’s Day taking place this Sunday, we thought it would be a good time to thank our wonderful moms, as well as wish all the moms -old and new, near and far, on earth and within our hearts – a very happy Mother’s Day.
Sam
To Mom –
“God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers” – Rudyard Kipling
To quantify all the things you have done for me is impossible; to thank you for all those things a task greater than I am capable of doing.
You gave me my love of reading – a gift I am thankful for every day as I climb into bed. Somehow with three young children, a full-time job and a maximum amount of patience, you found the time to encourage us all to read and to make a library excursion every fortnight an occasion. I can only hope I pass this onto my children one day; the joy of words and stories, it is a gift you gave to all your four children and one I know each one of us cherish.
You gave me a sense of elegance – I remember as a child your always-manicured nails (where did you find the time?), your clothes that we would take delight in dressing-up in. Then, and today still, you are the example of grace and style; something you passed onto each of your three daughters. I love that you gave us a sense of pride in our appearance, without teaching us vanity.
Your ability to put others first taught me the meaning of selflessness. You have given more to me, and my siblings, than we will ever comprehend. You pushed us to be better-than-the-average, and take opportunities presented to us. Whatever success I have achieved to date is a result of the drive you instilled me.
If I have not acknowledged enough in the past: thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for all you have done, all that you do, and all that you will do. Thank you for being my mom!
Ilaria
A small paragraph can’t really capture the thanks and love I have for you; where to start and where to finish is impossible. Because my brother is far away – probably dodging some big jungle spiders in the Amazon – I will speak from the both of us.
Thank you for being the person who supports us no matter what choices we have made in life, and the person who loves us unconditionally.
Thank you for teaching us what it means to be unselfish; you have and continue to always go above and beyond for everyone – most importantly your family. Apart from juggling work, stress and everyday life, how you always know exact details as to what, where, how and when is beyond me (it might be the 100 phone calls between us a day)!
Thank you for teaching us to always make sure there is enough food in the house, to never make anyone feel unwelcome, to love (especially animals) and to show love.
For allowing us to tease you, to laugh with you and to watch cartoons together even though we are WAY over age. When you are around, you make any place in the world feel like home.
I can only hope that one day I will be the mom you were to us – so that my children can feel as blessed and as thankful as we do. Thank you Mamma, Happy Mother’s Day xxx

You will never know how much they mean to me 🙂 I feel truly blessed to have the most precious daughter and son any Mom could ever wish for and I thank God each day that you are both in my life. What lovely words you have for your Mom too Sam – I’m sure your Mom agrees with me when I say that we are truly proud to have raised such amazing, loving children. Enjoy your Mother’s Day xxx
