A monthly collection of five of our favourite things done, seen, tasted, heard, smelt, worn, bought, savoured, enjoyed, touched, liked or loved.

This month, Sam, lists her favourites for October:

1. NARS Laguna Bronzer

My only splurge purchase from Australia (*sniff*). I vacillated between this and the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush but eventually settled on the bronzer on account of the fact that I religiously wear sunscreen (premature ageing is not welcome!) and I have been looking more sallow pale than I would like to lately. I can report that the bronzer is a cult product for a reason – I have worn it every day since buying it and love the warm glow on my face.

In other news – NARS PLEASE COME TO SOUTH AFRICA! Love, every female.

2. Anna Louise Sleepwear

I ordered a set of these palm print pjs from Anna Louise a few weeks ago, as an intended gift for my new sister-in-law. Unfortunately, they did not arrive in time for her bridal shower (sorry Andy) so I kept them for myself. Besides being far more stylish than a recycled race t-shirt, they are also incredibly soft and comfortable. I will definitely be spoiling myself with more Anna Louise sleepwear going forward.

3. “The fault in our stars”

One of the best movies I have watched this year! I enjoyed it so much that I bought the book on my Kindle shortly afterwards and loved the book, too. I confess I am a book snob; there are few movies that ever live up to the book (I’m looking at you, Silver Linings Playbook) but I felt the movie captured the narrative of the book incredibly well. If you haven’t read the book or watched the movie, I highly recommend both. Especially, if you are in need of a good cry…

4. Thierry Mulger – Alien

As mentioned here, Ilaria spoilt me with a pamper day for my birthday (yes, I chose my best friend well) and got this lovely bottle of Alien perfume. Unfortunately, I am not very good at picking up scents in perfume so I wouldn’t be able to adequately explain the notes – I do definitely detect some vanilla – but I love the fragrance and it seems to last a few hours more than my beloved Dior (J’adore). It is feminine and inviting from the first spray and slowly changes during the wear.

5. Woolworths Chamomile Tea

In an attempt to control my post-dinner sugar cravings I have resorted to a cup of tea or coffee after eating. The new Woolworths Chamomile Tea is the perfect post-dinner companion – the delightful flower-y scent is somewhat sweet smelling (almost eliminating the chocolate demons), while the lack of caffeine helps me relax before bedtime. Delish!

Happy Friday and Happy Halloween!
