Fairlady Pamper Day at Camelot Spa

Everybody deserves a true pampering once in a while. We often don’t necessarily have the time or the money to make it happen, but when and if we do get the opportunity, it certainly makes you realise what a positive effect it can have.

Sam and myself had the pleasure of having such a pamper session at the beautiful Camelot Spa in Saxonwold two weeks ago. This was a full day event organized by Fairlady Magazine in order to say thank you to their readers.

Arriving at 9am on Saturday morning, we were ushered to the beautiful, crisp cloakrooms where we were given luxurious “Hugh Heffner” style bathrobes and slippers.

Our first treatment for the day was an hour long full body massage.

It. Was. Amazing.

The massage started on the neck, back and shoulders, then moved onto an Indian style head massage and lastly ended with the lower body where our legs got treated. I have never had a leg massage before and it was such a nice surprise. (I’m hoping it jumpstarted some better circulation) #womanproblems

Our room was serene and tranquil and we had the pleasure of listening to trickling water throughout our treatment.

Once our massage was done, we moved onto a booster facial followed by a mini Mani and Pedi. The Camelot therapists made us feel like absolute royalty, doting on us at all times, making sure we were nothing but comfortable and relaxed.

After our morning treatments, we moved out to the foyer area where we were offered champagne and orange juice and were given some free time to explore.

The spa is situated in a historic house which was first owned by a doctor in the early 1900’s. Although a completely modernized, art deco inspired interior, the house still contains many of its historical characteristics which adds to the beauty and the feeling of the space. We went on a small exploration around the property and both agreed, it reminded us of the mystical house of Miss Haversham in the story, Great Expectations.

After some lunch in the courtyard under the trees, we headed to the flotation room – by far my favourite part of the day! A flotation room is essentially a lightless, soundproof tank where you float in salt water at skin temperature. Flotation therapy is actually used to ease a number of medical and stress related conditions. Because you are floating, gravity and pressure on your entire body is removed, and you are able to experience deep rest and relaxation.

We came out of the tank feeling absolutely refreshed. It is also amazing what the feeling of salt does to your body – no wonder we all look so healthy after a sea-side holiday!

As if the above was not enough, Fairlady spoiled us even more with a generous gift bag including the new Alien perfume by Thierry Mugler.

It was a treat of a day, and we thank all the wonderful staff at Camelot Spa and Fairlady for making it one to remember.
